Graphene is widely considered as one of the most promising materials discovered in the last decade

Discovered in 2004, Graphene is one atom thick layer of pure carbon in hexagonal arrangement which is one million times thinner than paper and is nearly transparent. It is the strongest material ever measured. It is known as a material with the best performances in strength, toughness, weight, light transmittance and electrical conductivity. Graphene is widely considered as one of the most promising materials discovered in the past decade.

  • 300x stronger than steel
  • 97% transparent
  • Extremely light
  • Conducts electricity & heat

Graphene vs. Graphite

The properties of graphene depend on the number of layers we use. When we use > 10 layers of graphene, the sheets behave like graphite and do not have the properties of graphene. 2DM consistently produces graphene at < 10 layers.
