The helicopter industry has been challenged to cut operating costs, fuel and to lower maintenance outlays while improving operational efficiencies. The only way to face these requirements is to apply advanced technologies. Rotorcraft Asia 2017 with the main theme “Innovation in Rotorcraft” was the right place to get together for all industry leaders and discuss possible solutions.
The conference covered the entire rotorcraft supply chain, from airframes, components and parts, to avionics, safety systems and more. 2DM could not miss it and even had an opportunity to give a speech to audience consisted of companies as Bell helicopters, Airbus helicopters or Sikorsky.
In the speech, our CEO highlighted graphene-based solutions for the environment, profitability and safety issues. He described various graphene composites that 2DM is developing and their benefits for the industry. Graphene can be applied as a coating on the rotor’s or for the whole body construction to heat up the surface and de-ice them. Graphene’s high conductivity is a perfect solution for avoiding lightning strike and will not add additional weight to the Rotor or body-frame, as solutions with copper-mesh do. Air traffic is increasing so rapidly that global carbon dioxide emission from aviation, which in 2013 was just 2-3% of all CO2 pollution, could jump as much as 500% by 2050. To reduce it we need to make lighter helicopters and graphene is the right material for it.
The whole event was brilliantly organized by JEC GROUP, who not only secured an incredible lineup of speakers but also a huge and enthusiastic audience to receive them. I think the power of the event was very strong and clear, as it was a unique event for a whole chain of the helicopter sector.
